1971 Chevy Nova - love story
Owner: Jeff Hoeft from Omaha Nebraska
Submitted by: Brenda Roberts
Article: Joel Burke
The car was originally owned by Brenda’s brother, before Jeff purchased it. Brenda would catch this guy (Jeff) staring at her in the hallways at school, but at the time she did not know him.
One day she came home from school and her brother informed her that a friend of his was going to stop by to look at the Nova. She just happened to answer the door that day when Jeff arrived. He soon realized that the girl he had been “admiring” was his friend’s sister!
Jeff purchased the car, but that is not where the story ends. Jeff would make up crazy car questions in order to come and visit. Jeff and Brenda lost touch and both moved on with their lives. They had both gotten married to other people and divorced. Even after going through the divorce he was able to keep the Nova. The car has been with him all these years. It even survived a house fire which narrowly missed the car parked in the garage.
The car and Jeff were both a distant memory until two years ago when Brenda and Jeff began dating. The car is described by Brenda as “the other woman” in their relationship! Jeff enjoys taking the Nova to the drag strip in the Summer and is currently working on a new motor for her. The car has been painted numerous colors through the years and all the body work was completed by him. He has kept the current paint color for nearly four years now.
The car is known around their house as the “angry bitch” but his daughters prefer to call her the “other girlfriend.” Brenda describes Jeff as “a very sentimental person that would do anything for anyone.”
